Ten Thousand Islands Fishing Charters
The Ten Thousand Islands is a maze of mangrove islands, oyster bars and backwater bays stretching southeast from Marco Island toward Everglades City.
Much of the area is protected as the Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge and Everglades National Park, so it's one of the wildest stretches of the Florida coast, with no roads and very little development.
It's classic backcountry fishing water, and the islands' winding creeks can be confusing to navigate, which is exactly why going with a local captain pays off.
Backcountry favorites
Snook, redfish, trout and mangrove snapper year-round, with tarpon in late spring and summer.
Wildlife
Dolphins, manatees, ospreys, eagles and huge flocks of wading birds.
Remote beaches
