Marco Island Fishing Charter

Inshore and Nearshore Fishing for Tarpon, Snook, and Redfish

At Daily Habit Fishing Charters, we strive to create an atmosphere that invites the experienced as well as the novice angler. Being a professional fishing guide, I employ only the finest equipment on my 18 ft. Actioncraft fishing boat. Our Loomis rods equipped with Team Daiwa reels are ready for that explosive strike from some of the Ten Thousand Islands most notorious game fish.

MARCO ISLAND

Marco Island, located on the Gulf of Mexico in Southwest Florida is the largest of the Ten Thousand Islands, measuring 24 square miles. It has over 100 miles of waterways and can boast 6 miles of beach. There are a number of parks and preserves within short distance from the island, including Rookery Bay Nature Preserve, 10,000 Islands National Wildlife Preserve, Collier-Seminole State Park and Everglades National Park. The island is popular with holiday-makers for its beautiful white beaches, sunshine, friendly residents and laid-back life style. The residential community consists of a population of 15,000. In the peak season (November to May) a large influx of visitors increases the population to around 35,000.

Many fishermen come to Marco Island to take advantage of the fish havens, such as wrecks and artificial reefs that are a relatively short distance by boat from shore. Marco Island also acts as the gateway to the many bays, estuaries and backwaters of the Ten Thousand Islands and the Everglades, which are excellent fishing grounds.

THE TEN THOUSAND ISLANDS

The 10,000 Islands which are spread across almost 100 miles of South West Florida Coastline, are located to the south of Naples and Marco Island. They are part of the National Wildlife Preserve, and the lower portion has been a part of Everglades National Park for many years. This wilderness consists of a unique ecosystem, and because the islands have remained undeveloped and are only visited by relatively few people each year, the area has been able to remain home to exceptional wildlife and vegetation. This includes manatee, dolphin, and a large variety of fish and birds.

The Ten Thousand Islands is an aquatic preserve, and as such, the water quality and marine life in the area’s vast expanse of protected waters is strictly regulated. The subtropical landscape, and the temperate waters of the Gulf of Mexico provide an ideal habitat for many fish species including Permit, Redfish, Snook, Pompano, Shark, Tarpon, Trout, Grouper and Cobia. As a result this area provides a haven for great fishing, and in fact is one of the most productive fisheries in North America.

BACKWATER FISHING

Backwater is a still body of water connected to a river or tidal body of water, but not affected by its current. In the Ten Thousand Island region these backwater or backcountry areas include bays, creeks and mangrove swamps. These still, sheltered and unpolluted waters provide ideal nurseries for shrimp, crabs and small fish, and this in turn provides an abundant feeding ground for many gaming fish.

I am a backwater light tackle specialist, using live and artificial baits for snook, tarpon, redfish, and other native game fish. Come and take advantage of my expertise and join Daily Habit Fishing Charters in one of the best backwater fishing areas in South West Florida.
